the zzaag-Project

homebuild selfbalancing scooter                    deutsche Version!

NEWS:

23.07.2008  I have just assembled a complete Kit from fun-components.eu. I takes around 45 minutes to build the zzaag, you can have a look at YouTube :Part1, Part2, Part3, Part4 and Part5
21.07.2008  a complete
Documentation for the PCB-Kit/Cable-Kit is online available.
21.07.2008  the kits from www.fun-components.eu are ready for shipping!!
18.07.2008  the firmware A2 is online, including Programming Tools for serial Port.
18.07.2008  Basic sourcecode is online!

It have been taken a few weeks, but now the beta is finished. The final goal of the zzaag-project was to show, that it is possible to build a selfbalancing scooter with standard components for less then euro 550,-. Many people out there are interested in building a segway by there own. I have finished the documentation, hope everyone could understand the "howto".
This document show how things work, what kind of motors are used, how steering works etc.

Remember all parts are diy, so if you have any suggestions to improve something, please give your ideas to the whole world ;)
The zaagg was build with components from fun-Components.eu. The zzaag-firmware for the universal motorcontroller could be downloaded here.

WARNING!

Driving this vehicle could be dangerous. The original Scooter have many safty features, since the zzaag does not have (e.g. redundant controllers, redundant motors etc.) If one of the zzaags components fail or have a malfunction, a hard and ungentle falloff is guaranteed.

what actual happens::

- housing improved

- steering rod improved

- new gyroscope IDG 300 implemented

what just happens

- sidecover for wheels made from Acrylic

- improve steering bearing

- remote via BT

- howto-Video / mounting in realtimet

- Open Source

Homebuild Sidecover made from KAPPA-Plate:
The mounting Frames from fun-components doesn´t have a side cover, since it is a universal Motorchassis.

4mm Kappa-Plates could be easily bend and cut.

Using 2mm rubberpads in order to protect the buttons against dust.

using bicycle rubbergrips:

The grips are not really made for 25mm Tubes, but with a little bit force it could be done.
